Notes on Ingredients
- Milk: You can use any plant-milk here including almond, coconut, soy, cashew, oat, macadamia, etc.
- Bread: I love to use thick, fluffy, and hearty bread for french toast. Some of my favorites are sourdough bread, cinnamon raisin bread, or challah. You can also make your own vegan and gluten-free bread at home!
- Cornstarch: This makes this Easy Vegan French Toast get crispy and golden. Substitute 1:1 with potato starch or arrowroot powder.

- Heat up a non-stick skillet on medium heat and add in the vegan butter.

Definitely. Pumpkin pie spice or apple pie spice are delicious in French toast!
I recommend a medium-sized frying pan. You will only fry one piece at a time, but you want to make sure you have plenty of room in the pan so it’s easy to flip!

Extra Helpful Tips
- Avoid cooking the french toast on high heat as it will burn the bread before it can get golden brown! Cook on medium heat.
- Don’t skip the cornstarch! It makes the bread crispy (without eggs or dairy!).
- Each side takes about 4 minutes to get golden so be patient!
- Use any kind of bread you’d like: sourdough, challah, cinnamon raisin, or gluten-free. You could even make-your-own bread!
How to Store
You can store it in the fridge in an airtight container for 1-2 days after and reheat on a frying pan for a couple minutes each side. However, French toast is best served and eaten immediately after making.
