Have you gotten on the oat milk band wagon? I am not a fan of the added ingredients in store bought oat milk so I make my own Easy Homemade Oat Milk instead. The ingredients are simple, it’s way cheaper than store-bought, and turns out so creamy. Enjoy it with homemade granola, add it to a smoothie or overnight oats, or dip chocolate chip muffins in it.
Why I Love This Recipe
- Easy: All you have to do to make Easy Homemade Oat Milk is throw a few simple ingredients into a blender and blend until you get a creamy, delicious milk.
- Cheaper Than Store-Bought: Oat milk is so expensive. $5-6 minimum for a small carton! A whole batch of this homemade version costs just cents to make.
- Healthier Alternative: Most store-bought oat milk contains inflammatory seed oils like rapeseed, canola, and sunflower. This homemade version is entirely oil-free.

Commonly Asked Questions
No, as long as you’re using a high-speed blender, the oats do not need to be soaked before blending.
Yes! Add medjool dates, a dash of maple syrup, or a dash of honey to sweeten the milk. You can also omit the dates for it to be fully unsweetened.
Use a nut milk bag, piece of cheese cloth, or fine mesh strainer to strain the milk after blending. This will make it extra creamy and smooth–but it’s not necessary. You can add the leftover pulp to Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cereal Bars!

I have always soaked and rinsed the oats before blending when I make oat milk, like when you make nut milks. It helps to cut back on the stickiness
