The Healing Drink that Could Save Your Life

If you have been keeping up with the latest nutrition trends, you might have been heard about the new celery juice craze! Made popular by Medical Medium Anthony William, people have been hopping on the celery juice bandwagon. If you’re thinking to yourself, “EW, CELERY JUICE?!”, I totally understand, just hear me out. Drinking celery juice on an empty stomach first thing in the morning has amazing benefits. What I really like about this health hack is that celery is among the cheapest vegetables you can buy, and will only cost you around $1 a day to keep up the habit. I love going to get a juice or a smoothie at my local juice bar, idk about you, but I do not want to spend $10 dollars on a green juice every morning.

WHY CELERY JUICE?

To start, celery juice has an abundance of vitamins and minerals including, vitamin K, vitamin C, potassium, folate and B6, B1, B2, calcium, magnesium, iron, essential amino acids, and phosphorus!

During juicing, fiber is released, which aids in healthy waste elimination – one indication of a properly functioning gut and colon. 70% of all immunity resides within the gut, so ensuring that you’re going to the bathroom frequently is SO important! I cannot stress that enough! If you aren’t having a bowel movement at least once a day, you need to up that fiber intake and introduce celery juice into your life!

So many people are chronically constipated, which contributes to all kinds of issues and diseases. When you drink celery juice first thing on an empty stomach, it replenishes the hydrochloric acid needed to properly digest your food, and prepares your gut for the day ahead!

Celery juice is also great for lowering cancer risk. It’s anti-oxidant and anti-tumor properties fight cancer cells head on! In addition to this, celery also replenishes lost electrolytes, lowers blood pressure, balances pH levels by alkalinizing the gut, lowers cholesterol, treats insomnia, improves kidney functioning, and one of my favorites, it contributes to glowing, radiant skin! Have I convinced you yet??

Anthony William explains that “celery is one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory foods because it starves unproductive bacteria, yeast, mold, fungus, and viruses that are present in the body and flushes their toxins and debris out of the intestinal tract and liver”. He adds that while getting rid of bad bacteria, celery juice helps to keep the good bacteria around. Good bacteria are essential for the gut and body to properly function. William also says that celery juice is great for individuals with ADHD, brain fog, or memory loss.

HOW DO I MAKE CELERY JUICE?

If you have a juicer you can use that, but I make mine in the blender. I blend the celery in my high-speed blender without water (celery is mostly made up of water so you don’t need added liquid). I then use a reusable nut milk bag to strain the juice. I literally got 2 bags for $6.95 on Amazon. If you don’t want to spend hundreds on a juicer, that is your best bet! Use one head of celery which yields about 16 oz. (16 oz. in the morning should be your goal). Just a tip, I find that serving the celery juice on ice makes it more refreshing to drink.
